🥎 Monarchs sweep Sylvan-Lucas on senior day

HAYS – The TMP-Marian Monarchs softball team honored their seniors Friday in the final home doubleheader of the senior and it was a senior who helped lead them to a sweep of Sylvan-Lucas.

GAME 1: TMP 12, Sylvan-Lucas 4
The Lady Monarchs scored at least one run in every inning and senior Halle Dreiling collected a career-high four hits in a 12-4 TMP victory.

Sylvan-Lucas collected three hits in the first inning and scored first.

Trailing 1-0 the Monarchs started off the bottom of the inning with four straight singles, including the Dreiling base hit that tied the game at one and Brooke Koenigsman single putting TMP up 2-1.

Bria Windholz added a two-run double to put TMP up 4-1.

After the Mustangs got another run back in the top of the second TMP’s Halle Dreiling connected on her first homerun of the season in the bottom of the inning putting TMP up 5-2.

Sylvan-Lucas added a third run in the top of the third inning cutting TMP’s lead to 5-3.

In the bottom of the inning Raegan Allen doubled home a pair of runs in the bottom of the third inning putting TMP up 6-3.

Molly Helget added an RBI single for a 7-3 lead.

After Dreiling doubled in the bottom of the fourth, Koenigsman tripled home the run for an 8-3 TMP lead. Teagan Gottschalk added an RBI single to put TMP up 9-3.

Sylvan-Lucas added their fourth run of the game in the top of the fifth but the Monarchs answered right back in the bottom of the inning, scoring two runs on Dreiling’s second double of the game making it 11-4.

Adison Watson hit her first career homerun in the bottom of the sixth inning as they Monarchs went on to clinch the 12-4 victory.

On senior day Halle Dreiling finished game one four-for-four with a homerun, four RBI’s and three runs scored.

Brynn Rebel picked up the victory. She allowed four runs, three earned, on eight hits with eight strikeouts in seven innings.

GAME 2: TMP 10, Sylvan-Lucas 0

Bria Windholz turned in five shutout innings, allowing just one run with five strikeouts in the second game of the doubleheader as the Monarchs claim a 10-0 victory.

Halle Dreiling picked up right where she left off in game one, doubling in a run to put TMP up 1-0 in the bottom of the first inning.

After a scoreless second inning, the Monarchs scored four runs in each the third and fourth innings.

In the bottom of the third inning the Monarchs collected five straight singles, scoring on Bridget Feldt and Adison Watson singles for a 3-0 lead. Molly Helget added a sacrifice fly making 4-0 TMP. Brynn Rebel added an RBI double in the inning putting TMP up 5-0.

After two quick outs in the bottom of the fourth inning Bria Windholz connected on her first career homerun putting TMP up 6-0 in the bottom of the fourth.

The Monarchs also scored on an error, a passed ball and an RBI single for a 9-0 lead.

In the bottom the fifth Dreiling tripled and that was followed by a Koenigsman sacrifice fly giving TMP the 10-0 run-rule victory.

All but one Monarch collected a hit, all but two scored a run and two drove in a run.

Molly Helget finished two-for-two with 2RBI’s.

Windholz allowed just one hit and struck out five with three walks in five shutout innings.

TMP improves to 18-6 and they will close out the regular season at Great Bend on Tuesday.
