Stephen Campbell, 75, died on Saturday, January 7, 2023, at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita. He was born on July 18, 1947, at Kingman, the son of Loren & Betty (Mayberry) Campbell. He married Lisa Anne McWhirter on December 22, 1973, at Dighton.

Steve graduated from Kingman High School and earned his Masters Degree in Music Education from Wichita State University. He taught in Sublette for 2 years before moving to Dighton in 1971 teaching vocal music in the Dighton school district until 2002.

He sang at his first funeral when he was 11 years old and sang at hundreds of funerals through the years including last month. He was a member and Choir Director at First Christian Church in Dighton. He was an avid reader, especially history and western novels. He enjoyed trying new restaurants and traveling to new places. After retiring he became a sports fan rooting for his Grandchildren’s teams and various college and pro teams. He enjoyed baking and delivering his food to neighbors and towns people. His family knows him as never being late for anything.

He is survived by his Wife- Lisa Campbell, 2 Sons- Loren & Amber Campbell of Greensburg and Logan & Rebecca Campbell of Dighton, Brother- Clinton Campbell of Columbia City, Oregon and 4 Grandchildren- Isaac Torson, Ian Campbell, Blythe Campbell & Sawyer Campbell.

Funeral Service will be at 10:30 AM Saturday at First Christian Church with Rev Jennifer Bradford officiating. Burial will be in Dighton Memorial Cemetery.
