Gary W. Zimmerman, 82, passed away on Saturday, May 6, 2023, at the Sheridan County Health Complex in Hoxie, Kansas. Gary was born to Zerald W. and Marjorie (Banard) Zimmerman on July 16, 1940, in Sterling, Kansas.

He attended school in Sterling, Kansas.

Gary had twenty plus years’ experience working in the oilfields. He worked as a driller, roughneck with some tool pusher experience. He worked in many locations throughout the United States. He worked for several companies, Sharp, Loffland, Brinkerhoff, H30 and Bearcat, to name a few. He also worked for Trans World Drilling in the Gulf of Mexica as well as Morgan City Louisiana as an offshore driller. He did have some experience with H2S gas and Air and Air Fome drilling. He finished his career as a fulltime driller.

Gary is survived by children Christopher M. Zimmerman, Jennifer R. Roy, and Susie Rahier, all of Hoxie; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents Zerald and Marjorie Zimmerman; brother Stan Zimmerman and sister Karen Pelot.

No services are planned.
