Betty L. Schroeder, 89, of Colby, died Monday, October 23, 2023. She was born June 16, 1934, in Thomas County, KS to Ira and Lorraine (Tubbs) Stickel.
Betty was a 1952 graduate of Levant High School.
On May 23, 1952, she was united in marriage with John Schroeder. Betty was a homemaker and enjoyed living on the farm. The couple retired to Brewster in 2005 and then moved to Colby in 2017.
The couple loved to travel and spend their winters in Texas. They also enjoyed going to casinos and attending Shriners activities together. Betty was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She spent her free time reading, doing puzzles and quilting.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents; husband John; son John Richard “Rick” Schroeder; brother Lloyd Stickel; brother-in-law Robert Schroeder; sister-in-law Mary Garrett; niece Gloria Ribordy and nephew Leon Schroeder.
She is survived by her daughters, Diana (John) Presley, Dodge City, KS and Debra (Bob) Aday, Waxahachie, TX; sisters-in-law, Marcellia Stickel, Lois Anne Frodin and Helen Schroeder; six grandchildren, Jeremy (Janie) Presley, Courtney (Matt) Howard, Ashley (Brock) Seidl, Benjamin (Jeannie) Schroeder, Nicolas (Kelly) Schroeder and Von Aday; twelve great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Cremation was chosen. The family will receive friends from 5-7:00 p.m. Friday, November 24, 2023, at Baalmann Mortuary, Colby. A memorial service will take place at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 25, 2023, at Baalmann Mortuary, Colby.
