Erma M. (Holmes) Faulconer, 90, died Wednesday, January 17, 2024, at Hays Medical Center in Hays, Kansas. She was born May 2, 1933, in Finney County, Kansas, the daughter of Johnnie Holmes, Sr. and Venna E. Blocher Holmes.
Erma grew up on the family farm in Finney County, Kansas. She attended elementary school at Pierceville-Plymell and later attended and graduated from Garden City High School in 1951. On January 30, 1951, she married William G. “Bill” Faulconer in Raton, New Mexico. A homemaker, Erma also worked at Daylight Donuts, St. Catherine Hospital and Big Cheese Pizza. She enjoyed spending her time crocheting, embroidery, gardening, and loved to spend time with her family especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include three children Georgia & husband Keith Hartman of Schoenchen, Kansas, Wayne & wife Connie Faulconer of Lambert, Montana, and Billie J. Baxter of Dighton, Kansas; a daughter-in-law Ginger J. Faulconer of Shields, Kansas; a brother Johnnie Holmes, Jr. of Garden City, Kansas; ten grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; and two great great-grandchildren.
Erma is preceded in death by her husband Bill who died on February 25, 2018. She is also preceded in death by her parents; a son Johnnie L. Faulconer; three brothers Donald V. Holmes, Clyde U. Holmes, & Aubrey G. Holmes; two sisters Lenora M. Johnson and Elma Jean Bennett; and a son-in-law Greg Baxter.
A graveside service will be held at a later date at Valley View Cemetery in Garden City. There will be no calling hours. Condolences may be given at garnandfuneralhomes.com.
