John Robert Wasinger was born March 6th1936 in Hays Kansas, the son of Martin F. and Mary (Schmidt) Wasinger. John passed from this life on January 9th 2024 at the age of 87 in Littleton Colorado. He was proceeded in death by his parents, brothers; Herb, James, Joseph, and Franklin. Sister; Roslind (Rusty) Karlin. He is survived by his sister; Emily Richter, sister-in-law; Barbara Wasinger and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
John graduated from St. Joseph’s Military Academy in 1955. He went on to attend Fort Hays State University graduating with a BS degree in Business in 1959. During this time he worked at the Varsity Bowl as a fry cook. He also had a great passion for the Big Bands and was a member of a local band , The Ted Smith Band. John moved to Denver, Colorado to pursue his career in Business. He moved back to Hays and attended Fort Hays State University to attain his teaching certificate in English and Language Arts. He then moved to Ulysses, Kansas teaching middle school until 1967 when he moved to Las Vegas, Nevada where he also taught middle school. He completed his master’s degree in 1970. John retired from Clark County School District in 1992. In 2011 John moved to Windsor, Colorado where he spent his final years, He was a member of Our Lady of the Valley Knights of Columbus Council 11575 and was a 3rd degree knight. He will be remembered for all the heart he shared with his family and friends. He truly loved each of them.
Services will be held on Friday February 2nd, 11:30am at Our Lady of Loreto Catholic Parish (18000 E Arapahoe Rd, Aurora, CO 80016)
There will be another service held later in Hays, Kansas with Keithley Funeral Homes and Crematory-Brock’s Chapel 2509 Vine Hays, KS 67601.
