Michael Jeffrey Shopteese, age 48, passed away on Sunday, February 25, 2024, at his home in Hugoton. He was born July 26, 1975, in Amarillo, Texas, the son of Michael J. Shopteese and Marla Thompson.
Jeff grew up in Ordway, Colorado, and graduated from Crowley County High School. He then attended Pueblo Community College. He has lived in Hugoton for the last 13 years. He has worked for a farmer, the railroad company, DCP, Merit, Rome and Harper Farms and was currently the logistics manager for Seaboard Energy Kansas. Jeff married Lupe Camacho on July 6, 2013, in Hugoton. He enjoyed playing co-ed softball, wrestling, fishing, and hunting. Jeff was also an avid OSU fan.
Jeff is survived by his wife, Lupe, of Hugoton; children, Chandra Shopteese of Pueblo, Colorado; Ethan Shopteese and wife, Randi, of Bokoshe, Oklahoma; and Avah Shopteese of Hugoton; stepsons, Isaiah Peachey and Eli Camacho both of Hugoton; father, Michael J. Shopteese and step-mother, Nancy, of Amarillo, Texas; step-father, Jerry Flores of Sugar City, Colorado; one grandson, Oakley Shopteese; and one grandchild on the way, Everly.
Jeff is preceded in death by his mother, Marla Thompson.
Memorial service will be 2:00 PM on Thursday, February 29, 2024, at the First Christian Church in Hugoton, Kansas, with Pastor Heath Kelley officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday, February 28, 2024, from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Garnand Funeral Home in Hugoton.
