Lottie Grace Burnett, 100, passed away Monday April 8, 2024 in Dighton, Kansas. She was born in Larned, Kansas on January 21, 1924 to William Barker Hunsley and Sarah Grace (Losey) Hunsley.
She married Howard Burnett August 6, 1941 and together they had three children who still survive. They are Louella Grace (James) Dill, Howard William “Bill” (LaDeane) Burnett, and Linda Jane (Lee) Martindale. She is also survived by two grandsons Michael (Belinda) Martindale and Michael Cabbage, two great-grandsons, three great-great-granddaughters, and many nieces and nephews.
Lottie was preceded in death by her husband Howard Burnett, ex husband Walter Horn, granddaughter Brenda Martindale, daughter-in-law Jo Ann Burnett, half siblings Fanny Schultz, Lori Metzger, Thomas Fern Hunsley and siblings William Barker Hunsley, Lilian Mary Hunsley Burnett, Albert Joseph Hunsley, and Dr. Perry Uriah Hunsley.
She was a farmer’s wife and with that she was involved in all of the daily duties. She did a lot of work; milking, hauling water, drilling wheat, dumping hay in windrows, driving tractor, hauling various machinery, and so forth.
Visitation will take place Wednesday April 10, 2024 at Boomhower Funeral Home in Dighton, Kansas from 1:00 to 8:00 pm. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 am Thursday April 11, 2024 at the First Christian Church in Dighton, Kansas with Rev Scott Wagner officiating. The service will also be streamed live on the Garnand Funeral Homes Facebook Page. Burial will be in Dighton Memorial Cemetery. The family suggests memorial contributions to Lane County Historical Society or the JOY Center both in care of Boomhower Funeral Home.
