Francis Joseph Haberman, 96, passed away on Dec. 28, 2022, at Clara Barton Hospital, Hoisington. He was born on Oct. 3, 1926, in Great Bend to Frank and Bertha (Skolaut) Haberman. On Nov. 19, 1952, he married Coleta Elizabeth Schafer. She passed on April 25, 2018.
A lifetime Great Bend resident, Francis spent his working years as a technician at the Natural Gas Plant, as well as a farmer for 75 years. He was a member of the Prince of Peace Parish at St. Patricks Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus #862 - serving as a 3rd Degree Knight, the Eagles Club, V.F.W. Post #3111, and the Sunflower Polka Club. Francis enjoyed playing cards with friends and spending time with his family.
Survivors include a son, David (Elaine) Haberman of Hays; a daughter, Debbie (Geoff) Tracy of Great Bend; six grandchildren, Audrey (Jeff) Rummel, Joe Haberman, Kimberly (Wesley) Georgeson, Jake Haberman, Matthew (Letecia) Tracy, and Spencer Tracy; 11 great-grandchildren, Nathan Rummel, Jesse McDougal, Jared Rummel, Jade Rummel, Jet Georgeson, Stella Georgeson, Whitely Georgeson, Aiden Tracy, Christopher Tracy, Carver Tracy, and Declan Tracy; and one great-great-grandchild, Aria Tracy. He is preceded in death by his wife; his parents; and a sister and brother-in-law, Evelyn and Dr. Donald Blake.
Visitation will take place from noon to 8 p.m. with family receiving guests from 5 to 7 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 2 followed by a Knights of Columbus Rosary and Vigil at 7 p.m., all at Bryant Funeral Home.
Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 3 at St. Patrick Catholic Church with Father Prakash Kola presiding. Interment will follow at Great Bend Cemetery.
Memorials have been designated to the Great Bend Columbus Club, Holy Family School Endowment Fund or V.F.W. Post #3111, in care of Bryant Funeral Home.
