Stephen Garrison, 66, of Fort Dodge, died August 4, 2022 at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines.
Stephen James Garrison, son of James and Lois (Brown) Garrison, was
born June 2, 1956 in Smith Center, KS. He graduated from Osborne High
School in 1974 and earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from
Kansas State University. He was employed with Iowa State Extension which
brought him to Fort Dodge, IA in 1979. For a time, he sold Apple
Computers and later owned and operated a flooring business, Floor
Doctors.
He’d be remembered as the tall FD Dodger fan who always wore a
cowboy hat. Steve didn’t know a stranger, was very funny and
intelligent. He loved being around dogs, working with his hands, as he
was a master woodworker, carpenter and an excellent cook and baker. He
enjoyed car racing in all forms. Steve loved his family and time spent
together. He was an active member of New Covenant Church until his
health declined.
Survivors include his stepchildren: Rachel (Mike) Reavis of Newton,
Colin (Ashley) Panzi of Ankeny, and their children Braxton and Bates,
Chris (Baylie) Panzi of Clive and their children Veda and Callahan, his
siblings: Tom Garrison of Indianapolis, Becky (Robert) Jones of
Amarillo, TX, and his nieces Allison Jones of Amarillo, TX and Abigail
Jones of Dallas, TX. He was preceded in death by his parents and his
sister-in-law Regina Garrison.
