Kenneth James Leiker

Kenneth James Leiker, age 85, passed away on Thursday, November 16, 2023, at the Good Samaritan Society, Ellis, Kansas.

He was born in Wichita, Kansas to Marcellus and Alice (Roth) Leiker.

Kenneth grew up on the family farm south of Munjor, Kansas where he attended Munjor Grade School and the Schoenchen High School.

He moved to Norton, Kansas where he worked at Jamboree Foods for over 30 years as a stock man and carry out. After his retirement he moved to Hays.

While in Norton he was very active with the Norton High School athletics, The Lions Club, The Fraternal Order of Eagles, and the American Legion. He enjoyed working on jigsaw puzzles, listening to polkas and country/western music.

His survivors include his brothers, Allen F. Leiker and wife, Marie, Hays, KS; Dean Leiker, Tulsa, OK; his sister, Judy Leiker, Atwood, KS; his sister-in-law, Joyce Leiker, Littleton, CO; his nephew, Marc Leiker and wife, Amy, Hays, KS; his nieces, Kathyrn Zolnierz and husband, Marc, Munjor, KS; Kretice Crowson, Denver, CO; and several great-nephews and great-nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Marcellus and Alice; his brother, Duane Leiker; and his sister, Juanita Leiker.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 21, 2023, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 18th and Vine, Hays, Kansas with Father Trinity Savariyar officiating. The burial will be in Saint Joseph Cemetery, Hays, Kansas.

Visitation will be from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday at the church.

The family suggests memorials made payable to: the Norton High School or DSNWK (Developmental Services of Northwest Kansas) in care of Cline’s-Keithley Mortuary of Hays, 1919 East 22nd Street, Hays, Kansas 67601.
