Stella Krannawitter, 98, Hoxie, KS passed away on October 17, at Prairie Senior Living Center in Colby, KS. She was born April 21, 1925, in Grinnell, KS to John and Mary (Ostmeyer) Bixenman.

Stella attended Pleasant Ridge School, a country school north of Grinnell, Kansas along with her four siblings.

In Stella’s younger years, she lived on her parents’ farm north of Grinnell.

She later met Ed (Eddie) Krannawitter at a dance, and they were married in Angelus, Ks. They celebrated 50 years of marriage until Eddie’s death in July of 1996. Together, Eddie and Stella farmed and raised livestock on their homestead located southwest of Hoxie where they raised eight children.

Stella was a housewife, but she was also a very active partner in farming and ranching. She enjoyed sewing, baking, and visiting family and friends. She spent many hours cooking and baking pastries for her family and the Hoxie community. She always had cinnamon rolls in her freezer ready to go.

Survivors include her three daughters, Karen Kraft (Jerry), Salina, KS, LaDonna Bell (Wally), Helena MT and Kathy Vaughn (Rick), Colby, KS; three surviving sons, Terry Krannawitter (Sylvia), Hays, KS, Keith Krannawitter (Cheri), Olathe, KS and Bill Krannawitter, Enid, OK; son-in-law, Lynn McBride Paola, KS, daughter-in-law Deanna Krannawitter Olathe, KS brother Bill Bixenman of Grinnell, KS and many loved grand, great-grand, and great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by parents; her husband, Ed Krannawitter; two children, Jane McBride, and Mark Krannawitter; granddaughter, Mandy Bell; great-grandson, Eddie Mendez; sister, Doris Manhart; and brothers, Fred and Joe Bixenman.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m., October 21, 2023, at the St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church in Hoxie, KS with burial at the St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, October 20, 2023, from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with family receiving friends from 5:30 pm. The vigil service will start at 7:00 pm. Visitation and vigil service at the Mickey-Leopold funeral Home, Hoxie, KS.
