Billy Eugene Hill

Lifelong Wallace County resident Billy Eugene Hill, 85, passed away on Tuesday, August 20, 2024 at his home in Sharon Springs, surrounded by family.

Billy was born in Wallace, KS on August 17, 1939 to Paul Abraham and Ethel Mae (David) Hill. He was one of four children. He attended school in Colby through the 8th grade. Before going into the United States Navy, Billy attended school in Little Field, TX to become a Barber. He served in the Navy from 1957 until 1960.

On June 15, 1957, Billy married Mary Eloise Bedford in Napa, CA. To this union, four children; Gary, Ronnie, Pam and Paulette were born.

During his lifetime Billy worked as a barber, farmer, and was owner operator of Hill Trash Service of Wallace County. Billy enjoyed golfing, hunting, and traveling to Arizona for the winter. He also enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. Billy was an active member of the Sharon Springs Wesleyan Church and went on many mission trips. Billy spent much of his life leading others to Christ. 

Preceding him in death were his parents, three brothers; Jimmie, Bobby, Byron Dea Hill and two great grandsons Gunner Owen and Kyler Unruh.

He is survived by his wife Mary of the home in Sharon Springs, KS, his children; Gary (Delphine) Hill of Sharon Springs, KS, Ronnie (Theresa) Hill of Sharon Springs, KS, Pam (Kris) Anderson of Nashville, TN and Paulette (Steve) Unruh of Sharon Springs. He is also survived by eleven grandchildren and 31 great grandchildren.

Funeral services for Billy will be held on Friday, August 23, 2024 at 10:30 AM MT at the Sharon Springs Wesleyan Church with Pastor Cody Tupps officiating. Burial will follow in the Sharon Springs Cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 22, 2024 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM MT at the Sharon Springs Wesleyan Church.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Sharon Springs Wesleyan Church and may be left at the services or mailed to Koons-Russell Funeral Home, 211 N. Main Ave., Goodland, KS 67735.
