Waunita Lila Stoney, 66, passed away on May 18, 2023 in Oberlin, KS. She was born on July 1, 1956 to Walter and Lillian (Lemon) Mosier in Oberlin, KS.

Waunita grew up in Oberlin and graduated from DCHS in 1974.

After high school she married Jerry Stoney in Oberlin, KS on April 24, 1976. Together they had two sons, Jerred and Jeremy.

After high school she went to nursing school to be a CNA and nurse’s aide to work at Cedar Living Center.

Waunita had a huge heart and would always offer help to anyone who needed it. She loved to travel to see her sisters, nephews, and nieces. But most of all she loved to spend time with her sons and grandsons.

Waunita was survived by her sons Jeremey Stoney of Cassville, MO and Jerred (Angie) Stoney of Great Bend, KS; grandsons Colton Stoney, Logan Stoney, Javen Stoney, Jamison Stoney, and Jordan Winter; sisters Fern Mosier of Oberlin, KS, and Pat (Dallas) Gustis of Geneseo, KS; Lance Bowlby of Lincoln, KS and Samantha (Jason) Stagner of Inman, KS. She is also survived by extended family and friends.

She was preceded by her parents and husband Jerry Stoney.

Graveside service will be Wednesday, May 24, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. in the Oberlin Cemetery.
