Larry Lee McNames, 80, passed away on July 28, 2024 in Plainville, KS. Larry was born on November 2, 1943 in Montrose, CO.
Larry was adopted by Harry and Regina (Beanblossom) McNames in Julesburg, CO in the summer of 1948 when he was 4 years old.
Larry was raised in Julesburg and graduated from Julesburg High School in 1962. After high school Larry went into the Air Force and married Sandra Wood in 1966. The couple went to Adams State College in Alamosa, CO and after college both worked in geology and taught high school. Larry loved to collect rocks, read, but most of all spend time with his family.
Larry is survived by wife: Sandra Wood McNames; sons: Ryan and Neal McNames; son-in-law: John Cooper; granddaughters: Skylar Cooper-Evetovich, Devon Cooper; great-grandson: Zed Lockwood. He is also survived by his sister: Betty Bulla; mother-in-law: Veda Wood, and sister-and brothers in law as well as many nieces and nephews.
Larry was preceded in death by daughter: Andria McNames Cooper; sisters: Sandy Slankard and Cindy Deems.
