Lenice Mae Crawford

Lenice Mae Crawford 83, passed away peacefully on 01/22/2024. Lenice was born July 6, 1940, to Alex and Della (Kaufman) Herbel in Lucas KS. Lenice grew up on her parents' farm south of Lucas and graduated from Lucas High School in 1958.

After high school she moved to Lincoln where she worked at the Lincoln County Court house as well as the Lincoln Co ASCS office. It was in Lincoln that she met the love of her life due to a plumbing problem. She called local plumber Dan Crawford and after the service call, he asked her for a date and a romance blossomed. Dan and Lenice were married on June 10, 1961. Dan brought 2 daughters to the union, Danne Jo and Jeanne Ann and Lenice gave birth to daughter Sheila.

Lenice worked alongside Dan in his plumbing business until 1975 when they moved to Lucas to farm and ranch with her parents.

Dan passed away unexpectedly in 1987 and in 1989 Lenice married Rich Schuckenbrock. They remained south of Lucas until 2017 when due to failing health they moved to Lincoln.

Lenice’s favorite place on earth was Lucas, KS and she loved everyone that lived there. She was a quick wit and loved to laugh.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband Dan and son in law Don Wiebke. She is survived by daughters Danne Jo Ryan (Herb), Jeanne Ann Wiebke and Sheila Ruby (Russ), grandchildren Tim Ryan, Shannon Wiebke (Summer), Lacy Faison, Cody Ruby (Courtney), Cassie Wilson (Keith), 8 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren.
