Jetmore – Evelyn Louise (Blackburn) Nusser, 67, passed away April 12, 2024 at Hodgeman County Health Center, Jetmore.
She was born May 19, 1956 in Dodge City, the daughter of William Woodrow and Myrtle Evelyn (Cox) Blackburn. A lifetime area resident, she was a co-owner in Nusser Oil, Nusser Chevrolet, Inc. and Nusser Motors, Inc., Jetmore.
Evelyn was a founding member of Sunny Sunflowers Extension FCE Unit in 1985. She was involved in setting up the free book give away at Hodgeman County Fair for the community. She was a member of Jetmore Methodist Church and a Sunday School Teacher, Hodgeman County Extension Unit President, and the Extension Council. She was a great supporter of Hodgeman County 4-H, Hodgeman County Love Tree and Jetmore Senior Center. She served as an EMT for over twenty years, also as a Library Board Member, Cub Scout Leader and was in Walk Across Kansas. She loved to help others, traveling, getting together with family and classmates, displaying her Santa collection and spending time with her beloved granddaughters.
On August 16, 1975, she married Terry L. Nusser in Dodge City. He preceded her in death on August 31, 2015.
Survivors include: two sons, Jeremy (Amanda) Nusser, Seattle, WA and James (Tracy) Nusser, Jetmore, KS; daughter, Jacie (Blake) Loder, Newton, KS; two brothers, Richard (Bernadine) Blackburn, Dodge City and Daniel Blackburn, Kearney, NE; two sisters, Judy Muns. Dodge city and Sandra (Alex) Garza, Dodge City; two granddaughters, Sarah and Kate Nusser, both of Jetmore; sister-in-law’s, Janice Thoben, Jetmore, Patsy Blackburn and Gail Blackburn, both of Dodge City and several nieces and nephews including John (Lindsay) Thoben, Josephine and Georgia, St. Louis, MO. and her special cat, Misty Dawn.
She was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers, William, George, Donald, Steven and Darrel Blackburn; nephew, Joe Thoben; sister-in-law, Beverly Blackburn; brother-in-law, Fredrick Muns and mother-in-law, Rachel Nusser
Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 18, 2024 at the Jetmore Methodist Church, Jetmore, with Pastor Rod McMillan, Ronnie Ruff and Harmon Bliss presiding. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Beckwith Funeral Home, Jetmore. Burial will be in the Fairmount Cemetery, Jetmore.
