Robert “Bob” A. Malin, of Plainville, Kansas, passed away on February 13, 2024 at HaysMed Center, at the age of 84. He was born on August 16, 1939, to Francis and Maxine (Colvin) Malin in Russell, Kansas. He was married to Carol J. (Prockish) on July 1, 1961.
Bob grew up in Plainville. He was the owner/operator of Malin Backhoe Service where he employed his sons and many people from the community.
He was a member of the US Army where he served as a paratrooper in the 101st airborne division. Following his time in the service he met Carol at the Varsity Bowl in Hays, KS. Bob had many hobbies which included gardening and golfing. If he wasn’t following his grandkids around at their activities, then you could usually find him in his garage welding or wood working.
Bob is survived by his wife, Carol of Plainville; sons, Tom (Jeanine) Malin, Zurich, Tim (Eva) Malin, Osawatomie, KS Aaron Malin, Plainville; siblings, Virginia Lumpkins, Plainville, Peggy (Jim) Jore, Salina, KS, Betty (Craig) Davidson, Plainville, Phil Malin, Salina, KS; five grandchildren, Morgan (Charlie) Ochs, Meriden, KS, Dustin Malin, Plainville, Brandon (Jenny) Malin, Plainville, Dallas Malin, Ellis, KS, Andy Malin, Denver, CO; nine great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Don Malin.
Memorial Mass will be held on Monday, February 19, 2024, at 2:00 PM, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. A private family burial will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery with military honors.
