Evelyn M. Raab, age 87, passed away Thursday, December 29, 2022, at the Cedars in McPherson, Kansas. She was born September 3, 1935, in Topeka, KS, the daughter of Kenneth M. and Betty (Olsen) Cogswell.
She grew up on a farm north of Topeka. She attended Priddy Elementary School and graduated from Seaman High School in 1953.
On
January 10, 1954, she married Alfred Eugene (Gene) Raab at Elmont United
Methodist Church in Elmont, KS. This union was blessed with three
daughters and one son; Linda, Deanna, Joleen and Curt.
Gene
and Evelyn purchased a farm north of Topeka. Gene worked for Santa Fe
and Goodyear in Topeka. Evelyn worked for SW Bell Telephone and the
Shawnee County office. They raised registered Angus cattle for the
children to show in 4-H and FFA as well as state and national Angus
shows.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, the love of
her life, husband Gene (April 6, 2007), and daughter Linda Raab Sharp
(February 8, 2009).
She is survived by two daughters, Deanna
Sents (Allan) of McPherson; Joleen Raab of WaKeeney, and son Curt Raab
(Traci) of Topeka, in addition, eight grandchildren, 19
great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers, Karl Cogswell, San
Marcos, CA and Robert Cogswell (Donna) of Topeka, KS and one chosen
sister, Marilyn Downes (Jac) of Topeka, and several nieces and nephews.
Evelyn
was a member of the Kansas Farm Bureau, Ladies of the Moose, Red Hat
Society, Working Sams Camping Club, New Comers and Travel Club, Prime
Timers and Travel Club and Shawnee County Travel Group.
