Lifelong Wallace County resident Virginia A. “Ginger” See, 90 passed away on Sunday, January 14, 2024 at Hope Springs in Sharon Springs, KS.

Virginia was born to Ted and Edith (Peterson) Reiss on July 23, 1933 at her parents’ home east of Weskan.  She was one of four children.  She attended school in Weskan and graduated from Weskan High School in 1951.

As a child, Virginia’s parents took a yearly vacation in August, thus allowing her to see a little bit of every state in the United States.  In 1947, Virginia met Junior See.  On September 9, 1951, after several years of dating, Virginia and Junior were married at the Stockholm Lutheran Church.  Shortly thereafter, Junior purchased a ranch 12 miles north of Weskan where they raised their children; Kristine Kay, Dexter Ray and Julie Annette.

Ginger, Sheila Gebhards and Barb Cox had a painting business while their children were in school.  They would work 3 days a week and take time off when there was a school function.  In her later years, Ginger worked for the medical specialists at the Goodland Hospital as a medical assistant.  She also worked on the floor as a CNA for 30 years.  After retiring, while our country was suffering through a drought, she worked some hours as a Rehab Assistant and went to work at Prairie Manor Rest Home.

Ginger and Junior enjoyed traveling.  They spent their 25th wedding anniversary in Paris, France visiting friends.  They enjoyed several other trips together as well.  She was baptized and confirmed and was a member of the Stockholm Lutheran Church form many years.  In later years, she became a member of the Wesleyan Church.  She also played the organ for many years at both churches.  Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her friends and family.

Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband and her 3 brothers, Donald, James and Jerry Reiss.

She is survived by her children Kris and Tom Ochs of Utica, KS, Dex and Deb See of Sharon Springs, KS and Julie and Craig Roth of Cheyenne Wells, CO.  She is also survived by 10 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be designated to Hope Springs of Wallace County or to the Wesleyan Church and may be left at the services or mailed to Koons-Russell Funeral Home, 211 N. Main Ave., Goodland, KS 67735.
