LARNED – Helen D. Haberman, 89, passed away January 13, 2024 at her home in Larned.
She was born August 31, 1934 in Kinsley, the daughter of Alphansous J. and Helena Hahn Danler.
A lifetime area resident, she was a Licensed Mental Health Technician at Larned State Hospital. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Altar Society, Pawnee Valley Community Hospital Auxiliary, and Welcome Inn Senior Center, all of Larned. She volunteered for blood drives, loved traveling, dancing, and was a member of various card clubs.
On August 31, 1954 she married Joseph “Joe” G. Haberman at Kinsley; he preceded her in death on February 10, 2021.
Survivors include: three sons, Randy (Jana) Haberman, Pratt, Brian (Betty) Haberman, Larned, Douglas Haberman, Hays; daughter, Christine “Teena” (John) Engel, Topeka; sister, Rose Ann Hawley, Minnesota; six grandchildren, and four great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Joseph Haberman; daughter, Mary Lou Haberman; six brothers, Leonard Danler, LaVerne Danler, Sylvester Danler, Melvin Danler, John Danler, Joseph Danler; four sisters, Emma Brungardt, Mary Elmore, Kathleen Novack, and Theresa Wilkerson; and a daughter-in-law, Carol Haberman.
Funeral mass will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, January 18, 2024 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Larned, with Father Warren Stecklein presiding. Visitation will be 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 17, 2024 with family present from 5-7 p.m. and a vigil and rosary at 7 p.m. Burial will be in Saints Peter and Paul Cemetery, Kinsley, Kansas.
