Jeffrey Joe Cox

Jeffrey Joe Cox, age 70, of Hugoton, Kansas, died Friday, December 8, 2023, at his home. He was born February 9, 1953, in Hugoton, Kansas, the son of Harold Steven and Margaret Ellinor (Parker) Cox.

Jeff was a lifelong resident of Hugoton, graduating from Hugoton High School in 1971. While in high school he enjoyed playing sports, was very active in FFA and had the opportunity to travel to Europe. He then attended Garden City Community College for two years, before returning home to focus on farming and family. Jeff married Jo Dewell on December 30, 1994, in Fowler, Kansas. Jeff’s kids, grandkids and great-grandkids were his greatest joy in life. He was an avid sports fan and loved high school sports especially when it came to cheering on his grandchildren. Jeff was a supporter and member of the Hugoton Eagles Booster Club. He also enjoyed watching KU basketball, OU football, and Kansas City Chiefs games. When he wasn’t farming, Jeff could be found hunting with his buddies, fishing at the cabin in Cuchara, Colorado, or traveling.

Jeff is survived by his wife, Jo; daughters, Ginny Titus and husband, Wayne, of Hugoton; and Julie Cox Hicks and husband, Kevin, of Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania; son, Weston Cox and wife, Michelle, of New Braunfels, Texas; sister, Judy Hamlin and husband, Rick, of Hugoton; brother, Jerry Cox and wife, Sandy, of Hugoton; sister-in-law, Cheryl Cox of Hugoton; grandchildren, Parker Titus and wife, Christa, Vivian Titus, Hudson Titus, Wyatt Akers, Sydney Nashid and husband, Ilyas, Caleb Hicks, Austin Cox, Victoria Cox, Olivia Cox, Rylee Kanz; and three great-grandchildren, Lillian Ruth Titus, Lawson Jeffrey Titus, and Jedidiah Matthew Mills. Jeff is also survived by a host of nephews, nieces, and lifelong friends.

Jeff is preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Margaret Cox, and brother, Jim Cox

.Funeral will be Tuesday, December 12, 2023, at 10:00 AM at Bethel Friends Church in Hugoton, Kansas, with Brother Richard Martin officiating. Interment will follow at the Hugoton Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday, December 11, 2023, from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Garnand Funeral Home in Hugoton.
