On Tuesday, May 30, 2023, Robert Edward Tamney passed away at the age of 84.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Michael and Martha Scott Tamney and sister, Judy Tamney Hollifield.

Robert is survived by his wife of 51 years, Merlene (Lene); his children Melody (Marc), Candi, Kelly (Karen) and Robin; his brother Clarke (Vonica); brother-in-law Bobby; many beloved grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, cousins and friends. 

Robert graduated from Chamberlain High School in Tampa, Florida and William Carey College in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. He also attended the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Robert was a Minister of Music, Youth and Senior Adults at various Southern Baptist Churches across the south.

Robert was a 49-year member of the Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite and Egypt Temple.

Throughout his earthly life, Robert enjoyed being on and in the water, golfing, playing cards and games, watching a variety of sports on TV, but most of all he enjoyed being with family and friends.

Robert requested to be cremated with his ashes scattered over the pond at his residence on the Mirrored K Legacy Ranch, in Jay Em, Wyoming. There will be no service.

In the last three years, Robert was involved in working with Kelly and Karen as they developed a non-profit program dedicated to helping military veterans and first responders work through anxiety, depression and other PTSD symptoms while helping the American Mustang find a quality forever home.
