Glenn David Kippes, 71, passed away Saturday, January 13, 2024 in Austin, TX.
He was born August 5, 1952 in Hays, KS to the late Gilbert and Irene (Dreiling) Kippes. Glenn served in the US Navy on the USS Oriskany from 1972-1976 and married Sara Charisse Herd on May 5, 1973 in Coldwater, KS. As a 1984 graduate of the University of Nebraska at Omaha, he went on to hold multiple senior level IT positions concluding his career as COO at the Kansas State University Foundation. He survived cancer in 2011 and on Sunday, May 13, 2012, Glenn suffered a brain aneurysm that forced him into retirement. His wife became his full-time caregiver and he lived his final years peacefully in Texas. Glenn will be cremated and his ashes spread under his favorite oak trees. He requested no services or funeral.
Giving thanks for Glenn’s life include wife, Charisse Kippes, and two sons, Eric Kippes of Fort Lauderdale, FL and Brett Kippes (Autumn) of Austin, TX and six grandchildren. Two sisters, Sharon Wegele (Gary) of Hays, KS and Sheila Allen (Don) of Lake Charles, LA as well as brother Warren Kippes (Angie) of Hays, KS.
