Janet Dee Flickinger

Janet Dee Flickinger, 81, of Salina, Kansas, died on Monday, January 16, 2023, at the Kenwood View Health and Rehabilitation Center in Salina, Kansas.

Janet was born on June 5, 1941, in Russell, Kansas, the daughter of Georg Emanuel and Irene (Meier) Laubhan.  She grew up in Russell and graduated from Russell High School in the class of 1959.  She met, fell in love and was united in marriage to Jon M. Flickinger on August 08, 1960 in Hays, Kansas.  From this union, Janet and Jon were blessed with 4 children, daughters Jamie and Julie and sons Marty and Jered.  She was a Co-Owner with her husband helping him run two businesses JMF Electronics and Xetec, helping with daily operations and bookkeeping.  She enjoyed sewing and researching genealogy and enjoyed doing research for the Germans From Russia Genealogy organization.  She was also the librarian of Smoky Valley Genealogical Society.  Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family and 9 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

Surviving family include her husband Jon of the home, daughters Jamie Farmer and husband Larry of Salina, Kansas & Julie Hudson and husband Gary of Georgetown, Texas; sons Marty Flickinger and wife Traci of Topeka, Kansas and Jered Flickinger of Austin, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother John Laubhan.

A celebration of Janet’s life will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Friday, January 20, 2023, at the Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary in Russell, Kansas.  Visitation will be from 9 A.M. to 7 P.M. on Thursday, January 19, 2023, at the mortuary.  Family will greet guests the day of the service.  A private burial will take place after the service at the Russell City Cemetery.  Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary of Russell, Kansas is in charge of the funeral service arrangements.
