Nora Lee Jennings, 84, passed away on September 6, 2024 at the Cedar Village Care Center in Ness City, Kansas. She was born on July 25, 1940 in Hays, Kansas the daughter of Charles and Louella (Thurston) Simpson.
Nora grew up in Codell, KS where she was very active throughout school in band, sports, and cheer. She graduated in 1958. After the birth of her 2 children, Raylan Jennings of Flint, TX and Laura O’Brate of Hartsel, CO she returned to college at Ft. Hays receiving her degree for teaching English. Most of her career was secretarial. Nora was involved in Metaphysics and deeply enjoyed genealogy.
After retiring, she moved to Ness City from Springfield, MO in 2002. She was active with the Historical Society and the Senior Center. Nora had a great sense of humor. She loved deeply in her own way.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Louella Simpson; her sister, Elva Simpson; and her brother, Delmar Simpson.
She is survived by her 2 children, Raylan and Laura; sister Janice Reading; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Nora is being cremated, and a private family service will be held on October 5, 2024 at the Norman Cemetery at 2:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Cedar Village.
