Eugene Francis Skolaut, 83, passed away July 17, 2024, at Azria Heath Care, Great Bend, Kansas. He was born March 13, 1941, in Great Bend, to Joseph and Gertrude (Mauler) Skolaut.
After graduating Pawnee Rock high school, Eugene joined the National Guard and served for six years. He was a lifetime resident of rural Olmitz. Eugene was a dedicated farmer, stockman, and diary man. He loved to drive his four-wheeler, was a very accomplished welder but above all, he was kind, loving, thoughtful, generous, and a hard worker.
Survivors include one sister; Joann Koriel (John) of Rush Center and two brothers; Vernon Skolaut of Olmitz, Charles Skolaut (Mary) of Great Bend, nieces; Elizabeth Schmidt of Eudora, Angela Harvey (Flynn) of Liberty, Missouri, great niece; Brianna Schmidt, great nephews; Connor Schmidt, Dylan Schmidt, Carson Harvey, and Tucker Harvey. He was proceeded in death by his parents and nephew; Ethan Schmidt.
Visitation will take place 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Sunday, July 21, 2024, with a vigil and rosary at 7:00 p.m. all at Bryant Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m., Monday, July 22, 2024, at St. Ann Catholic Church, Olmitz, Kansas with Father Warren Stecklein presiding. Interment will follow at St. Ann Cemetery, Olmitz. Memorials have been designated to St. Ann Cemetery Fund or Albert Volunteer Fire Department, in care of Bryant Funeral Home, 1425 Patton Rd., Great Bend, KS 67530.
