Jesse V. Gill, 80, passed away Sunday, June 12, 2022, at Smith County Memorial Hospital, Smith Center, KS.
Jesse
was born on August 12, 1941, in Thrall, TX, the son of Miguel "Mike"
and Concepcion "Chone" (Vargas) Gill. On November 22, 1968, he married
Stella Camargo in San Antonio, TX. To this union they were blessed with
two girls, Velma and Lori.
Jesse
was a U.S. Army veteran serving from 1960 to 1968, when he was
honorably discharged after serving two tours in Vietnam. He joined the
Kansas National Guard after being discharged from the Army and served
for several years. He was a member of the American Legion Post 9, VFW
and GI Forum all of Garden City. After the military, Jesse became an
equipment mechanic for the Kansas Department of Transportation and truly
enjoyed his job retiring after 20 years of service.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Stella on December 23, 2021, and several brothers and sisters.
Jesse
is survived by two daughters, Velma J. Gill and Lori M. Gill; two
granddaughters, Kylie and Kayla Gill and several brothers and sisters.
Funeral
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, June 20, 2022, at All
Faiths Funeral Chapel, 113 S. Madison St., Smith Center, KS, with Pastor
Bob Sinclair officiating. Visitation will be held on Monday, June 20,
2022, 8:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral chapel. Burial will
take place in Fairview Cemetery, Smith Center, KS, with military honors
provided by the U. S. Army Honor Guard.
