Tracey Allen West, 83, died November 10, 2022, in Colorado. Tracey was
born January 3, 1939, in Scott City, Kansas, the second of three sons, to
Wilson and Bessie Ellen (Sharp) West.
Tracey attended the Amy grade school, Grades 1-8. He graduated from the
Community High School of Lane County (1957) and the University of
Kansas, with a BA in International Relations, Army ROTC (1961).
Commissioned as a 2nd Lt., US Army (1961) and honorably discharged as a
1st Lt. (1963), he served as an Area Intelligence Officer, stationed in
Korea. Following his discharge from the Army, Tracey became a civilian
contractor with the Defense Intelligence Agency and returned to Korea
until his retirement in 1994.
In his retirement years, he lived in Fort Lauderdale, Florida and Long
Beach, California until October 2021, when he moved to the Good
Samaritan Society - Loveland Village, Loveland, Colorado, to be near his
younger brother, Gary West. Tracy battled valiantly against the ravages
of Parkinson’s disease through the last year of his life, finally
succumbing to the effects of a massive stroke suffered November 1, 2022.
He passed peacefully into the arms of Jesus while under hospice care at
the Good Sam’s Care Center. He will be interred at the Dighton Memorial
Cemetery, Dighton, Kansas, in the family plot. At his request, there
will be no Memorial Services.
