Charles John Kitzke, Belleville
June 8, 1949 - November 10, 2023
On November 17, 2023, at the Belleville, KS Health and Rehab Center, Charles John "Cowboy" Kitzke left this life to go to the big roundup in the sky at the age of 74. He was born on June 8, 1949, in Logan, KS, to Paul T., Sr. and Lois Louise (Pickle) Kitzke. He was the third of four siblings.
Growing up on the family farm south of Almena, KS, John loved cowboying and spending time with his family. In 1967, he graduated from Almena High School and went on to attend Beloit Tech for carpentry. John worked at Norton Livestock, Oberlin, Alma, and many other livestock sales, as well as cowboying for farmers and feedlots.
John's first horse, Cassy, accompanied him to several horse shows, where the duo won numerous ribbons. He and his family attended a horse show in Almena where they were awarded 26 out of 50 ribbons. His last horse, Molly, held a special place in his heart, and he is now reunited with both Cassy and Molly.
John is preceded in death by his parents Paul and Louise Kitzke, his grandparents Mr. and Mrs. EC Pickle and Mr. and Mrs. August Kitzke, aunts, uncles, and a nephew Thomas Verle Kitzke.
He is survived by his son Troy of Alma, NE, daughter Janelle Borg of Holdrege, NE, brother Thomas Kitzke and wife Judy of Prairie View, KS, and many nieces and nephews.
Cremation has been planned.
Memorial services are scheduled to be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 25, 2023 in the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel in Phillipsburg. Pastor Ted Stapleton will be officiating the services.
