Jean Ann Mazanec, 64, of Colby, died Friday, December 1, 2023, at Citizens Medical Center.
She was born June 11, 1959, in Hoxie, KS, to Russel and Valeria (Smith) Bainter.
Jean graduated from Hoxie High School and attended Colby Community College. She married Jerome Mazanec on July 19, 1980.
They welcomed their first child, Robin, in 1981 who then went to be with the Lord in 1983.
After much prayer, they decided to go the route of adoption and in 1993 the couple brought Danyelle home from China and went to Las Vegas in 1996, where they added Caleb to the family.
Jean enjoyed raising their children and attending all the events her children participated in.
She loved her family and volunteering at Heartland Christian School, the church, and wherever else she could.
Jean enjoyed cooking, playing the dominoes game of chicken foot, and in her younger years, going on motorcycle trips.
She was a devout Christian and member of College Drive Assembly of God where she attended multiple Bible studies.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents Russel and Valeria Bainter; brother Jim Bainter and daughter Robin Mazanec.
She is survived by her husband Jerome; children, Danyelle (Logan) Montes and Caleb (Abigail) Mazanec; granddaughter Olivia Montes; brothers, Bill (Rose) Bainter, Bob (Sandy) Bainter and Dale (Esther) Bainter and sister-in-law, Twila Bainter.
Visitation will be from 5-7:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 6, 2023, at Baalmann Mortuary, Colby.
Funeral Service is at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, December 7, 2023, at the United Methodist Church, Colby, with burial in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, Colby.
