Eva Carson, 79, went to heaven to join Jesus on August 20, 2022, at Locust Grove nursing home in La Crosse. She was born to Drexel Dean and Charlotte (Clark) Thompson in Bedford, Iowa, on November 3, 1942. She was born just minutes before her twin sister, Reva. She attended Bedford Community School system. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary and First Christian Church, La Crosse.

She married Charles Jones on July 17, 1961. To this union was born 5 children. She lived in Bedford most of her life raising her family. In 1984 she moved to Ashton, Indiana for a short time but decided to follow her daughter to Dodge City, Kansas. She later divorced Charles and married George Carson on September 21, 1991, and she said he was the love of her life. They were married until he died February 19, 2013.

During her life she worked as a nursing assistant for many years and loved caring for the elderly. When she finally got to the point, she could not do that type of work anymore, she started working for a donut shop. She loved when children would come up to her and say, “there is the donut lady.” In her free time, she loved to crochet baby blankets and afghans for her family and friends. She loved to have her grandchildren and great grandchildren visit often.

She is survived by 4 of her children; Floyd Jones and wife Marlene, Fowler, Kansas, Annette Mercer and husband Gary, La Crosse, Richard Jones and wife Sandra, Freeport, Texas and Charlie Jones and wife Danyel, of Highland, Illinois; 12 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; and her sister, Reva Patten, La Crosse, Kansas.

She was preceded death by her parents, husband, George, 2 brothers, Dean Thompson and Homer Loughry, and infant son, Harold Jones.

Funeral service will be 1:00 pm Friday, August 26, 2022, at Living Waters Pentecostal Holiness Church (302 E. Vine) with Rev. Siah Edwards officiating. Burial will follow at the Kansas Veterans Cemetery, Ft. Dodge, Kansas. Visitation will be Thursday from noon to 8:00 pm at Ziegler Funeral Chapel, Dodge City.
