Maxine (Keller) Berry

Maxine (Keller) Berry was born November 3, 1922, at Page City, Kansas, to Oliver and Irene (Waldmeier) Keller, the eighth of eleven children. She had four brothers; Leo, Clinton, John and Walter and six sisters; Verna Wright, Eleanor, Letha Huntley, Sylvia Tate, Goldie and Freda Mason. All who are deceased.

Maxine completed 12 years schooling at Page City then earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Fort Hays State University. She spent 36 years working and learning with delightful Kansas elementary and Jr. high students in Abilene, Wakeeney, Monument, Page City and Winona. Maxine retired in 1986 due to her husband's health.

Maxine married Victor Berry on August 15, 1948. They built a home south of Page City and raised two sons, Mark and Milan. She enjoyed the good country life with Vic for 42 years. After Vic's death in 1990 she continued living on the farm. She spent her remaining years traveling, visiting family, doing various home and community projects and, with hoe in hand, spent hours enjoying God's wonderous works of nature. Maxine stayed on her beloved farm until three months before her death at age 100, on December 9, 2022.

She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings; husband; son Milan and two grandchildren, Mariah Berry Soderlund and Brandon Cyler Berry. She is survived by son Mark (Mildred Williams); daughter-in-law Deanna Ward Berry; grandson Clayton Berry (Maegan Horton) and their children Sadie, Jax, Jessa and Hadley; grandson Cade Berry and grandson-in-law Kevin Soderlund and his children Gage and Dallas Soderlund (Mariah's stepchildren).

There will be a graveside farewell at the Winona Cemetery on Saturday Dec 17, 2022, at 10:30 a.m. Lunch will be served at Maxine's home south of Page City.
