Julieta M. Randa, 86, Hays, died Saturday, October 21, 2023 at Locust Grove Village in LaCrosse.

She was born November 22, 1936 in Rush County, Kansas the daughter of George and Helen (Schoendaller) Munsch.

On November 20, 1954 she was united in marriage to Gerald “Dick” Randa. He died on January 7, 2005.

Julieta worked for Dinges Drapery and Innovative Innerspace, did alterations for Wiesner Department Store and Ann’s Dress Shop, and started her own business, which included window treatments. She was a very talented seamstress, sewing clothes for her children and grandchildren, making quilts, and going above and beyond with her talents for those she cared deeply for.

She made and sold homemade noodles, enjoyed Bingo, loved dancing, singing, and she taught herself to play piano by ear. Her memberships included St. Anthony Catholic Church in Schoenchen, St. Anthony Altar Society, and the Northwest Kansas Association for the Vision Impaired. She had a strong faith life, devoutly prayed the rosary, and could do anything she put her mind to.

Survivors include her son, Dan Randa and wife Karen of Hays, three daughters, Gloria Pfannenstiel and husband Bob of Hays, Vicky Sauer and husband Ron, and Jackie Gottschalk and husband Wayne, both of Schoenchen, two sisters, Darlene Bortz of Claflin, and Cora Schumacher of Hays, eight grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant brother, William, four sisters, LaVera Dinges, Marietta Beyer, Bernice Dechant, and Viola Werth, and three grandchildren, Joel Sauer, Eric Gottschalk, and Nathan Gottschalk.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, November 3, 2023 at St. Anthony Catholic Church, with Fr. Curtis Carlson, OFM Cap. officiating. Inurnment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 on Thursday, November 2, 2023 at Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home and from 9:00 until service time on Friday at the church. An Altar Society rosary will be at 6:00 p.m. followed by a vigil service at 7:00, both on Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the St. Anthony Cemetery Association or for masses.
