Morris Clayton Talbert

Morris Clayton Talbert, 87, of Stockton, was born June 28, 1935, in Oakley, Kansas. He went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on January 21, 2023, at Overland Park Regional Medical Center while surrounded by family. He died suddenly and unexpectedly from a fall.

Morris was born to Arthur and Violet Talbert. He moved to Ellis, KS in 1937 where he attended school. He was known as being a great basketball player. In 1954 he enlisted in the army and was stationed at Fairbanks, Alaska. He returned to Ellis and enrolled at Fort Hays State College where he majored in chemistry. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in 1959 and a Master degree in 1961. He married Dolores Erickson on August 21, 1960.

In 1963 they moved to Kansas City where Morris worked for the Food and Drug Administration. He began dental school at University of Missouri Kansas City in 1964.

After graduating he worked in Oakley for one year and then finished his career in Stockton, where he joyfully served his dental patients until he was 74 years old. Morris was very active in his local church. He served in The Gideons for 52 years and served as Kansas state president for 3 years. One of his greatest joys was passing out Gideon scriptures. He enjoyed leading Bible studies in his home.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Clinton. Survivors include: his wife, Dolores, of the home; son, Tim Talbert (Elaine) Olathe; daughter, Becky Talbert Lenexa; daughter, Tami Nichols (Mike) Olathe.

Grandsons: Andrew Talbert (Chloe, son Noah), Isaac Talbert, Ezra Talbert (Meegan, daughter Eden), Josiah Talbert, Gabriel Santilli, Isaiah Santilli, Jacob Nichols (fiancée Charlotte Doyle), Elijah Nichols.

Burial is pending at the WaKeeney Veterans' Cemetery. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date.
