Mildred Garner (Reynolds) was born December 14, 1938, in Ogallah, KS, to Clarence and Jessie (Carlton) Reynolds. She passed away on February 19, 2024, at the age of 85.
Mildred graduated from Trego Community High School in WaKeeney, KS, in 1956.
On October 13, 1957, she was united in marriage to Gayle Garner in the Ogallah Christian Church, Ogallah, KS. To this union, three children were born. Gayle preceded her in death on July 6, 2010.
Mildred was a member of the Ogallah Christian Church, Ladies Aid of the Ogallah Christian Church, and Friendly Dozen, Ogallah. She was also a member of the Y.M.P. Club, WaKeeney, and served on the board of Trego Senior Center, WaKeeney, and Hays Shooting Stars Square Dance Club, Hays, KS.
Those left to mourn her loss are two daughters, Debra Dykema and husband, Darwin, WaKeeney, KS; Michelle Gieber and friend, Terry Kuchcinski, Manhattan, KS; and a daughter-in-law, Cathy Tidball, WaKeeney, KS. Three grandchildren, Amanda Esslinger and husband Tony, Ridgecrest, CA; D’Anne Dykema and friend David Olivas, WaKeeney, KS; and Devin Lemman and husband Joshua and children, Hays, KS. Four great-grandchildren: Abrienna and Nicholas Esslinger, Ridgecrest, CA; and Jesse and Ava Olivas, WaKeeney, KS.
Her parents, a brother, Jack, a son, Allen, a son-in-law, Doug Gieber, and many relatives and friends preceded her in death.
Mildred enjoyed traveling, the highlights of her vacations were Alaska and Germany. She also enjoyed reading, knitting, and crocheting (a talent she passed on to her children and grandchildren). Mildred's faith in the Lord was very important to her, and it shaped her into a loving spouse, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, as well as a caring friend to many. It is because of her faith that we rejoice, knowing that she is living in the presence of our Lord for all eternity.
Services will be Friday, February 23, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at Ogallah Christian Church, Ogallah, KS, followed by interment in the Ogallah Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, February 22, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Schmitt Funeral Home, WaKeeney, KS.
