Mark Richard Hammerschmidt, of Plainville Kansas, passed away on August 4, 2024, at his home after a brief illness, at the age of 44. He was born on September 29, 1979, to Leo and Barbara (Finnesy) Hammerschmidt in Hays, Kansas. He was married on August 21, 2010, to Deanna (Schultz).
Mark grew up in Plainville and graduated from Plainville High School in 1998. He graduated from Northwest Kansas Technical School in 2001 with a degree in Engineering & Drafting Technology. Mark was an Engineer Technician at Penco Engineering.
He was an avid Chiefs and Huskers fan and spent most Saturdays and Sundays in the fall watching football in his garage. He enjoyed barbecuing and spending time with his family and friends.
Mark is survived by his wife, Deanna of Plainville; daughter, Mia of Plainville; sisters, Margaret (Leon) Plante of Plainville, Mona (James) Allbee of Edmond, Oklahoma, Jennifer (Dustin) Stull of Natoma, Kansas and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Barbara and Leo Hammerschmidt.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, August 9, 2024, at 10:30 AM, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Plainville. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday, August 8 at 6:00 PM. A Vigil will follow at 7:00 PM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Plainville Ambassador Club, Rooks County Cancer Council, Plainville Wrestling Club or Eager Beaver 4-H Club and may be sent to Plumer- Overlease Funeral Home, 320 SW 2nd, Plainville, KS 67663.
