Dr. Jerry Akers, Argyle, TX
Dr. Jerry Akers of Argyle, TX passed away on July 13.
Jerry was born in Elkhart, Kansas in 1942. His parents were Richard and Bernice Akers.
Jerry graduated from Elkhart High School and went on to study at Anderson College and later the University of Houston where he received a doctor of optometry degree.
Jerry served as a captain in the Army for two years at Fort Knox, Kentucky after graduating from college.
Dr. Akers started a practice in Hays, Kansas after his military service and saw patients for over 41 years in Hays.
Jerry was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing golf at the Smoky Hill Country Club while living in Hays. He also enjoyed serving his community through the Optimist Club of Hays.
Survivors include sons/daughter-in-law Michael and Tamara (Argyle, TX) and Scott (Dallas, TX) along with four grandchildren, Drew, Addison, Eddie and Zack.
Dr. Akers was laid to rest in Elkhart, Kansas.
