Stuttgart resident, Verna Carolina Preuss Huiting, passed away peacefully in her home on August 7, 2023, at the age of 95.
Verna was born on February 1, 1945, in Phillips County, Kansas to her parents, Carl August Bohl and Martha Emilie (Klotz) Bohl.
She is preceded in death by her first husband Michael Preuss, parents Carl and Martha Bohl, brother Ervin Bohl and wife Gertrude, sister Dorothy Seipp and husband George, and stepson James Huiting.
Verna is survived by her husband Duane Huiting of Osborne, Kansas, sons Darrell Preuss and wife Sandra of Norton, Kansas, and Eldon Preuss and wife Sandi of Stuttgart, Kansas, daughter Velma Jansonius and husband David of Prairie View, Kansas, stepsons Stan Huiting and wife Christine of Downs, Kansas, and Brian Huiting and wife Mindy of Downs, Kansas, stepdaughters Tava Collins of Cheyenne, Wyoming, and Nancy Wilfarht and husband Dave of Downs, Kansas, brother Raymond Bohl and wife Gerline of Phillipsburg, Kansas, sister Iona Sidman and husband Warren of Stuttgart, Kansas, as well as nine grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
A funeral service conducted by Pastor Lee Bennight will be held at the Emmanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in Stuttgart, Kansas on Saturday, August 12, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow in the Emmanuel Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery.
Verna will lie in state on Thursday 2 p.m. – 9 p.m. and Friday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. with a visitation from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday evening, at the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel in Phillipsburg, Kansas.
