Norma J. Crouse, age 96, of Goodland, Kansas passed away Sunday, October 30, 2022 at the Cheyenne County Village in St. Francis, Kansas.
Norma was born November 4, 1925, to William and Anna (Ehlers) Tegtmeyer in Ogallah, Kansas. She grew up in Ogallah until she was age 4, then the family moved to Russell Springs, Kansas, where she graduated from high school in 1943. Before graduating high school, she married Allen S. Crouse on February 15, 1943, on the family farm, while he was home on leave from overseas during WWII. To this union, Larry William, Victor Allen and Richard Wayne were born. Norma and Allen were married for 49 ½ years until Allen’s death in 1992.
Norma worked part-time at the Russell Springs Courthouse while still in high school. After Allen’s return from the Army, they lived in Bishop, California, North Platte, Nebraska, and Denver, Colorado. Then in the fall of 1965 they moved to Goodland. Norma worked at the First National Bank for 38 years, she retired in 2004.
She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary. Norma enjoyed sports, league bowling, dancing, playing cards, bingo, barbequing and spending time with her family and friends.
Norma is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Allen; son, Larry; and infant brother, Harold.
She is survived by her sons, Victor of St. Francis, KS and Richard of Colby, KS; daughter-in-law, Marion of Valley Center, KS; grandchildren, Lori Crouse, Kari (James) Haden, JaLancy Meyer, Richell (Wes) Bailey, Leslie Wood, Greg Crouse, Cory Crouse; 10 greatgrandchildren; 7 great-great grandchildren; and many more family and friends.
Funeral service will be Tuesday, November 1, 2022, at 11 a.m. MT at Bateman Funeral Home, 211 East 11th Street, Goodland. Interment following the service at the Goodland Cemetery. Visitation will be November 1, 2022, from 10 to 11 a.m. MT at Bateman Funeral Home.
