Stephen V. Bond, age 79, passed away October 8 at Lawrence Memorial Hospital, Lawrence, KS. He was born in Salina, KS on October 18, 1942, the only child of Paul & Aileen (Patterson) Bond.
Steve graduated from Plainville High School in 1960, and then served in the Army from January 1964 to November 1964 when he received a medical discharge. Two years later, he met and married Mary Hannah Page. They were partners in marriage for 56 years.
He earned a degree in Civil Engineering from University of Kansas in 1976. After graduation Steve’s family moved to Great Bend where he went to work for Petroleum, Inc. for approximately 10 years. Later, the family moved to Wichita where Steve was employed by the Kansas Corporation Commission. He retired in June 2014.
As a young man Steve liked to hunt and play golf and was an avid KU sports fan throughout his life. After retirement he enjoyed being outdoors puttering in the yard for hours on end. Steve and Mary traveled often to visit their children and grandchildren attending birthdays, holidays, and sporting events.
He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife Mary (Page) Bond; son Matthew Bond (Shannon); son Cole Bond (Kasey); and daughter Andrea Graham (Brandon) and 12 grandchildren: Drew, Olivia, Luke, Joshua, Micah, Asher, Jackson, Rylie, Hudson, Ben, Charlie, & Jake.
A Memorial Service is planned for Monday, Oct 17th, at 12:00 p.m. (noon) at Plumer- Overlease Funeral Home in Plainville, KS.
