Dorothy M. Bittel, 88, La Crosse, Kansas, passed away Wednesday, July 24, 2024, at Locust Grove Village, La Crosse, Kansas.
Dorothy was born April 3, 1936, in Liebenthal, Kansas, the daughter of Joseph and Barbara (Obholtz) Depperschmidt. She was a lifelong resident of Rush County, Kansas. She was a homemaker and loved gardening.
She was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church, and St. Michael’s Altar Society, both of La Crosse, Kansas.
On June 2, 1955, she married Clarence Bittel at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Liebenthal, Kansas.
Survivors include: her husband, Clarence Bittel, La Crosse, Kansas; two sons, Dennis Bittel (Christie), La Crosse, Kansas, and Gerald Bittel (Linda), La Crosse, Kansas; four grandchildren, Jessica Dellett (Jason), La Crosse, Kansas, Jennifer Stonequist (Jeread), Wellsville, Kansas, Amy Love (Damian), Manhattan, Kansas, and Ryan Urban (Stephanie), Mammoth Lakes, California; eight great grandchildren; one brother, Leo Depperschmidt, Garden City, Kansas; and two sisters, Edna Augustine, La Crosse, Kansas, and Angela Archer, La Crosse, Kansas.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Clarence Depperschmidt, and Alexander Depperschmidt; three infant brothers, Otto Depperschmidt, Edward Depperschmidt, and Joseph Depperschmidt; three sisters, Lillian Dinges, Helen McLaughlin, and Mary Ann Brandt; and one infant sister, Frances Depperschmidt.
Visitation will be Friday, July 26, 2024, from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, La Crosse, Kansas. A vigil service and rosary will be at 7:00 P.M.
Church visitation will be Saturday, July 27, 2024, from 9:00 A.M. to 9:50 A.M. at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, La Crosse, Kansas.
Funeral service will be Saturday, July 27, 2024, at 10:00 A.M. at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, La Crosse, Kansas, with Father Stephen Dabanka officiating. Interment will be in the La Crosse City Cemetery, La Crosse, Kansas.
In lieu of flowers or plants, the family requests memorials to St. Michael’s Catholic Church, La Crosse, Kansas.
