Cora Lou Ryan, age 87, of  Victoria, Kansas passed away on Sunday, December 1, 2024, at her home.

She was born May 21, 1937, on the family farm at Victoria, Kansas to Alphonse M. and Mary (Windholz) Kuhn. She married Richard Ryan and later separated.

She was a business woman maintaining her upholster shop on her farm for over 25 years.  She was a city clerk for the City of Victoria for 12 years, she was the office manager for the first Victoria cable TV company, and retired after a number of years working for Ralph Howerton Taxes and Accounting.

Cora started the Victoria Meal Site and the Meals on Wheels program.  She was very active in the Victoria V.F.W. Auxiliary Post No. 1751, chaired a lot of their programs and played piano at their activities. She served four terms on the Victoria School Board and served on the St. Fidelis Church Committee.  

She grew up on the farm in Victoria and was a 1955 graduate of Victoria High School, a member of The Basilica of Saint Fidelis, and Victoria V.F.W. Auxiliary Post No. 1751. She was an avid reader, she worked many years on her Volga German families genealogy, and enjoyed playing cards. 

Cora is survived by her children, Jim Ryan and wife, Vicki, Wichita, KS; Ruth Ryan, Wichita, KS; Sean Ryan and wife, Christy, Topeka, KS; her grandchildren, Bryson Ryan; Logan Ryan and wife, Alora; Stacy Velleca and husband, Drew; Brittany Ryan; Alex Ryan and wife, Jocelyn; Preston Ryan and wife, Ashley; her great grandchildren, Laney Velleca; Cooper Velleca; Ruby Velleca; Ava Ryan; and her sister, Alice DeHart, Renton, WA.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Alphonse M. and Mary Kuhn; her sisters, Lenora Lang and husband, George; Mildred “Millie” Patterson-Goetz and husbands, Edwin and Marvin; Clara Agnes Kuhn; and her infant brother, Paul Kuhn.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, December 10, 2024, at The Basilica of Saint Fidelis, 900 Cathedral Ave, Victoria, Kansas with celebrant, Father James Moster O.F.M. Cap.

A vigil service / V.F.W. Auxiliary memorial service /rosary will be at 6:00 P.M. Monday, at Cline’s-Keithley Mortuary Victoria, Kansas.

Visitation will be from 5:30 to 8:00 P.M. at Cline’s-Keithley Mortuary, Victoria, Kansas and from 9:00 to 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, at The Basilica of Saint Fidelis, Victoria, Kansas with a Class of 1955 rosary at 9:15 A.M.

  The Burial will be in Saint Fidelis Cemetery, Victoria, Kansas.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial made payable to: Victoria V.F.W Auxiliary Post No.1751 in care of Cline’s-Keithley Mortuary, 412 Main Street, Victoria, Kansas 67671.
