Joseph Yanda, of Ellis, Kansas, died Sunday, June 12, 2022, at his home in Ellis.  He was born in Quinter, Kansas, on October 14, 1950, to Theodore Sebastian and Lugarda 'Lou' (Ziegler) Yanda.

On August 5, 1978, he married Jean K. Morris in Oakley, Kansas. She preceded his in death just 7 months ago, on November 7, 2021.

Joe was a custodian at Fort Hays State University and was considered a jack of all trades, performing odd jobs and handyman work for many of his friends and family.  He enjoyed his association and membership in the High Plains Longrifles and was a master gunsmith.  He took pride in his family and was also a man of faith.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, June 17th at 2 PM at St Mary's Catholic Church - Ellis with Rev. Dana Clark officiating, inurnment will follow the services in the parish cemetery. 

Visitation will be Thursday, June 16th from 6 PM to 8 PM with a parish vigil service at 7 PM at Keithley Funeral Chapel, 400 E. 17th, Ellis, KS 67637.

He is survived by a son: Dean Yanda of Ellis; two daughters: Jessica Smith and husband Jon of Mons, Belgium and Amanda Cross and husband Casey of Hays; as well as two grandchildren: Ayden, and Ella Yanda; one sister: Leaette Bandy and her husband Bruce of Colby, Kansas; and a sister-in-law: Elaine Yanda.  He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, John; and his sweetheart, Jean.

Memorials are suggested to: High Plains Longrifles in care of the funeral chapel.
