James 'Jim' Collins Weems

James “Jim” Collins Weems, died May 22, 2023, at Trinity Manor in Dodge City, Kansas.

He was born on February 7, 1951, the son of John Wylie Sr. and Thelma (Robertson) Weems in Memphis, Tennessee.

Jim was proud to be an Air Force brat who lived in many places including Tennessee, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Texas, Kansas and Japan. He graduated from Ardmore High School, Ardmore, Oklahoma. Eventually he earned his Commercial Driver’s License and loved to drive a rig over the road for many years. He retired from Kindsvater Trucking in Dodge City. Jim found joy as a volunteer of Kairos Prison Ministry for several years while living in Enid, Oklahoma.

He is survived by his 2 sons, Jim Weems, Hoxie, Kansas and Steve Owens, Indiana; 3 daughters, Misti McCreary, Ft. Worth, Texas, Delana Whisenhunt, Dodge City, Kansas and Kristen Tinoco, Garland, Texas; 3 brothers, John Wylie Weems Jr., Florida, Lee Weems, Texas, and Steve Weems, Oklahoma; and one sister, Sharon Erikson, Missouri; and several grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Sandra Weems of 33 years and his father, John Weems, Sr.

Graveside services will be at a later date in Elmwood Cemetery, Woodward, Oklahoma where he will be inurned next to his beloved wife, Sandra. There will be no public viewing, as cremation has taken place.

The family suggests memorials to Tunnel to Towers Foundation in care of Ziegler Funeral Chapel, 1901 N. 14th Ave., Dodge City, Kansas 67801.
