Norma Ann Hawley

Norma Ann Hawley passed away on November 10, 2022, at the Andbe Home. She was born on October 22, 1941, in Warsaw, Indiana, to Edith and LeRoy Hawley.

In 1944, the family moved to Pierceville, Kansas. Her family moved around because her father worked for Union Pacific Railroad. They lived in a box car in Tennis, Kansas, but went to school in Friends, Kansas.

In 1951, the family moved to Scott City, Kansas, where Norma graduated from High School in 1960. Then the family moved to Garden City, Kansas where Norma began working as a clerk for JCPenney. She worked there for 25 years. She also was a caregiver for her elderly parents.

In 1997, Norma moved to Phoenix, Arizona to be close to her sister, Edna Mead and family. In March of 2007, she moved to Hill City, Kansas. She did this to be near her niece, Pauline King. In October of 2010, Norma moved to Topeka, Kansas, to be near her cousin, Donald Johnson and family. Then in January 2013, she moved to Norton, Kansas, to be close to her sister, Wanda Davison and family.

In August of 2020, she moved to the Andbe Home in Norton, where she resided with her sister, Wanda. She remained there until her passing.

Norma enjoyed doing puzzles, cross stitching on plastic canvas, traveling and attending church. She also enjoyed going on bike rides, while in Hill City, she was often referred to as the “bike lady."

Norma is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Albert Hawley; sister, Edna Hawley Mead; brothers-in-law, Donald Davison and Delroy Mead. She is survived by her sister, Wanda Davison; cousins, Donald and Robert Johnson; nephews, Robert and Justin Mead; nieces, Debbie (Mead) Collins, Sherrie Mead, Pauline King, Sharon Avedisian, Carol (Hawley) Rohrbough, Marilyn Hawley, and sister-in-law, LeAnne Hawley.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 pm Tuesday, November 15, 2022, at the Cornerstone Church in Norton. Visitation will be held from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm before the service at the church. Burial will be 1:00 pm Wednesday, November 16, 2022 at the Lakin Cemetery, Lakin, KS.
