Richard Dean VanDegrift, 70, passed away on May 29, 2023 at Via Christi St. Francis in Wichita, Kansas. He was born on January 10, 1953 in Great Bend, Kansas, the son of Barry and Arlene (Switzer) VanDegrift.
Rick was a truck driver. He hauled cattle and milk. He worked in the oil field, and also cut meat.
He married Carol Hurt on Saturday, September 10, 1983, in Wilroads Garden, Kansas.
Survivors include wife Carol Vandegrift of Ellinwood; son William (Jolene) Perkins of Holcomb; daughters Mandy Dusin of Corpus Christi, TX, Tina Tatman of Ellinwood, Amber (Josh) Burt of Peoria, AZ, April (Christopher) Riley of Mesa, AZ; brothers Michael (Nancy) Vandegrift of Hutchinson, Kirk (Shirley) Vandegrift of Ellinwood; 20 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild, P.K.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Kirby VanDegrift; and grandson Ryan Turner.
Graveside service will be on Friday, June 9, 2023, 10:00 a.m., at the Ness City Cemetery, Ness City, Kansas. Viewing will be at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Ness City, Kansas, on Monday June 5, 2023 from 5:00 – 9:00 p.m.
