Alice Munsch Herrman, 85, formerly of Schoenchen, died Thursday, September 5, 2024 at The W Place in Kingman.
She was born April 19, 1939 in Hays, the daughter of Frank and Bernadine (Leiker) Mermis. In 1957, she graduated from Hays High School, and on October 11, 1958, she was united in marriage to Earl J. “Jess” Munsch in Hays. He preceded her in death on July 2, 1991. Alice was united in marriage to Michael F. “Mike” Herrman on April 23, 2004 in Hays, and he preceded her in death on February 22, 2018. She was the director of the Hays Senior Center, a devoted homemaker, and an active member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Schoenchen, and the St. Anthony Altar Society. Alice enjoyed dancing, traveling with her husband Mike, and she loved attending her grandchildren’s sporting events.
Survivors include her sons, Troy Munsch and wife Laura of Salina and Les Munsch of Thornton, CO, a daughter, Stacey Walters and husband Bob of Kingman, two brothers, Frank Mermis and wife Shirley of Olathe and Bill Mermis and wife Betty of Overland Park, a sister-in-law, Rosie Mermis of Olathe, six grandchildren, Cody Munsch and wife Rachelle, Cole Walters and wife Kayla, Payton Walters, Lauryn Munsch, Contessa Munsch, and Stella Munsch, a great grandson, Kaden Munsch, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, Jess and Mike, three brothers, Cecil, Vernon, and Gerald Mermis, four sisters, Lillian Arnhold, Mary Ellen Schmidt, Betty Leiker, and Delores Hoffman, and a grandson, Brady Munsch.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 am on Tuesday, September 17, 2024 at St. Anthony Catholic Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:00 am until service time and a St. Anthony Altar Society rosary will be at 10:00 am, all on Tuesday, September 17, 2024 at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the St. Anthony Altar Society.
