Royalan Elaine Leiker

Royalan Elaine Leiker age 89, of Hays, Kansas passed away on Friday, June 7, 2024, at the Good Samaritan Society of Hays.

     She was born May 15, 1935, in Ellsworth, Kansas to Roy Edward and Evelyn Fern (Mog) Grubb.  She married Donald Leiker on April 20, 1954, in Hays, Kansas.  He preceded her in death on November 20, 2009.  

      Royalan worked 23 years for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company and retired in 1983.  She grew up in Geneseo, Kansas and her family moved to Hays in 1950.  She was a 1953 graduate of Hays High School. 

     She attended Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, was a volunteer at the Hays Community Assistance Center, and helped on the funeral dinners at the church.  She enjoyed cooking, spending time with her family and her grandchildrens activities.

     She is survived by her children, Derek Leiker and wife, Pam, West Harrison, IN; Monte “Joe” Leiker and wife, Cathy, Shawnee, KS; Krista Gottschalk, Hays, KS; Craig Leiker and wife, Julie, Roswell, GA;  her grandchildren, Kinni Piche (Cory); Jared Leiker (Sarah); Caleb Leiker (Laura); Tyler “TJ” Gottschalk (Megan); Luke Gottschalk (Jessica); Katelyn Burkman (Nathan); Amber McGlawn (Tyler); Molly Leiker (Chuck Dibilio); and her 17 great grandchildren.

      She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Evelyn; her husband, Donald; her brother, Sonny Grubb; her sister, Lee Simpson; her son-in-law, Chris Gottschalk.

     Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, June 12, 2024, at St.

Joseph Catholic Church, 13th and Ash, Hays, Kansas with celebrant, Father Rich Daise.

     The family will receive friends from 9:00 to 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, at St. Joseph Catholic Church.

     A private family Inurnment will be at St. Joseph Cemetery Hays, Kansas.

     The family suggests memorials made payable to: Hays Community Assistance Center, Good Samaritan Society of Hays, or Hospice of Hays Medical Center in care of Cline’s-Keithley Mortuary of Hays, 1919 East 22nd, Hays, Kansas 67601.
