Darrin Walter Godfrey was born May 31, 1999, in Greeley, Colorado, to Christy Godfrey. He left his earthly life on December 30, 2023. He was the 2nd child of 3 children. Darrin Moved to Garden City in 2002 where he graduated from high school in 2018.
Darrin loved his “Son” Jager with all his heart. He could be seen driving around with Jager in the back of his truck with his music bumping. Music was very important to him. He was always making his own rhythm and beats. And making numerous snapchats of him singing or rapping. Darrin loved sports, both participating and watching. His two favorite sports were football and basketball. He later spent many nights hanging out with friends watching boxing.
Darrin’s smile and contagious laugh would brighten any room he entered. He was well known for his hugs he freely gave to anyone at any time for any reason. He was always the first to help whoever needed. It didn’t matter what it was, or what time it was. If you called Darrin, he was there for you. Darrin was very devoted to his family and friends. He treated everyone with great respect and politeness. Darrin never thought twice to do all he could for them and put them before himself. You could usually find him outdoors, in the mountains or hanging out with his family and friends.
Darrin loved working with his hands and didn’t like standing still. He was dedicated to his job at Klotz Sand and Astra Readymix. He loved the challenges every day brought and the relationships he built not just as coworkers, but also as friends. He was known for cracking jokes and did whatever he needed for the job to get done.
When Darrin left his earthly life, he left behind his mother Christy Godfrey of Garden City; his Papa Lyle Godfrey of Garden City; his brother Austin Godman (Cody) of Denver, Colorado; and his sister Alexis Lucero of Wichita, Kansas. He is preceded in death by his Grammie May Godfrey and Uncle Donald Godfrey.
Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 20, 2024, at the First United Methodist Church in Garden City with Rev. Jim Akins officiating. A private family burial will take place at a later date. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials given to the Darrin Godfrey Memorial Fund in care of Garnand Funeral Home of Garden City. Condolences may be given at garnandfuneralhomes.com.
